This public art project requested the artist to design artwork that would provide outdoor and low maintenance seating for ten people. The site included two patios in the landscaped area surrounding the dormitories for the new Engineering College. Masayuki Nagase's goal was to visually connect the two separate areas and to design an attractive and comfortable space for the students who will live and study there. He chose the theme of water as a basis for the design because of the proximity of the Mississippi River. Each of the nine bench sculptures is carved with a pattern based on the essence of water movement captured in a moment of time. His design also included enhancement to the two patios and the surrounding landscape areas.
